Chris Hemsworth Won’t Rule Out Loki’s Return In Avengers: Endgame

«“No resurrections this time,” Thanos says after choking the life out of Loki in Avengers: Infinity War. While many viewers read the line as a promise to audiences that Marvel wasn’t about to pull yet another Loki fake-out, the fans have still done a whole load of debating in the past year on whether or not the trickster’s death was legit. And as the release of Avengers: Endgame looms closer, it seems that the issue has been raised once again in a discussion with Chris Hemsworth.

The Thor actor joined Scarlett Johansson, Paul Rudd and Endgame co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo at a fan event last night in London. While the team was taking questions, the subject of Loki was raised, at which point, Hemsworth admitted that Tom Hiddleston’s character has a habit of cheating death:

“Ahhh, he’s like the girlfriend you break up with and they don’t get the message. Like, ‘You’re dead, sorry, it’s over,’ and they’re coming round to hang the new drapes. The most poignant moments [of Thor’s movies] have been with Loki.”

As for whether or not the God of Thunder’s brother might some day return, Hemsworth pleaded ignorance:

“I don’t know what the future holds. I love Tom. I miss him.”

At this point, “I don’t know” has become the standard answer for any question to cast members about the future of the MCU, so perhaps there’s not much to read into here. Regardless, set photos have already made it very clear that Hiddleston has shot some footage for the Infinity War sequel, seemingly against the backdrop of the Battle of New York from 2012’s The Avengers. Though the context of his scenes has yet to be confirmed, it’s long been a popular theory that Endgame will see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes travel back in time.»

«AVENGERS ENDGAME fans were given new hope that Loki is still alive at an Avengers 4 London fan event last night.

The top-secret event last night in Central London united 500 fans with their idols for an evening of fun and a few surprises. Stars Scarlett Johanson, Chris Hemsworth and Paul Rudd were joined on stage by Joe and Anthony Russo. The cheering crowd was treated to an incredible eight-minute preview of the movie but also had the opportunity to ask some questions. Anthony Russo warned they could not answer any plot-related probes about Endgame, but made a shocking confession about killing off Star-Lord in Infinity War. Another fan boldly asked Chris Hemsworth if Loki was really dead...

Popular theories suggest the God of Mischief used his magic to fake his death at the hand of Thanos. Others think Thor will travel to Hel and rescue his brother.

Hemsworth told the London audience:
"Ahhh, he's like the girlfriend you break up with and they don't get the message. Like, 'You're dead, sorry, it's over,' and they're coming round to hang the new drapes. "The most poignant moments (of Thor's movies) have been with Loki."

Yes, but is he dead or not?

Hemsworth admitted: "I don't know what the future holds. I love Tom (Hiddleston). I miss him."

Marvel fans are used to reading between the lines by now and Hemsworth's comments were being watched over by the Russos so he couldn't say too much. However, he clearly did not say that Loki is dead and gone forever.

The Aussie star also told fans what to expect as the film stars and where it will find the remaining heroes.

Hemsworth said:
"There is a sense of survivor's guilty but also a new push to right the wrongs. It's their last shot.

"You're gonna see something special and unique."»

The Walt Disney Company’s highly anticipated Investor Day provided an extensive overview of Disney’s comprehensive direct-to-consumer strategy, and included presentations on Hulu, Hotstar, ESPN+ and the upcoming Disney+ service, which will launch in the U.S. market on November 12, 2019, at $6.99 a month.


Disney+ will launch in November with a robust library of theatrical and television content, and in its first year will release more than 25 original series and 10 original films, documentaries and specials by some of the industry’s most prolific and creative storytellers. New original titles for Disney+ announced today include:

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, a live-action series with Anthony Mackie returning as Falcon and Sebastian Stan reprising his role as Winter Soldier

Marvel’s What If…?, the first animated series from Marvel Studios and takes inspiration from the comic books of the same name. Each episode will explore a pivotal moment from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and turn it on its head, leading the audience into uncharted territory.

Scripted originals previously announced for Disney+ include The Mandalorian, the world’s first scripted live-action Star Wars series; the exclusive new season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars; High School Musical: The Musical: The Series; the untitled Cassian Andor series starring Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk; the Marvel Studios’ series Loki starring Tom Hiddleston; Monsters at Work, Diary of a Female President; and live-action films Lady and the Tramp, Noelle, Togo, Timmy Failure and Stargirl. «BURBANK, Calif. — A new series featuring Marvel's Loki; two more featuring characters from the "Star Wars" universe; and another based on the "High School Musical" films are among the highlights of Disney's upcoming streaming service, Disney+.

The much-anticipated service will launch Nov. 12, and will cost subscribers $6.99 per month, with an annual option available for $69.99. (Netflix's most popular plan is $12.99 a month).

Among the highlights are "Loki," an eight-episode series starring Tom Hiddleston, who has played the iconic villain in Marvel's box-office blockbusters; two "Star Wars" series, including "The Mandalorian," which follows a bounty hunter (Pedro Pascal), and a spy series featuring Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) of "Star Wars: Rogue One."

Other Marvel series include WandaVision, featuring Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany).

In addition to new series and films, the service will launch with nine "Star Wars" theatrical films, with three more arriving during the first year, and become the exclusive subscription video-on-demand home of all 30 seasons of "The Simpsons," a crown jewel of the 20th Century Fox studio, which Disney acquired last month.

The giant entertainment company flexed its programming muscle in unveiling plans for Disney+ Thursday at an investor presentation on its studio lot. After an opening clip featuring mountains of movie and TV clips, Disney chief Robert Iger told analysts and reporters that "the video you just watched told a powerful tale about where we've been and what we've accomplished. It should also give you a strong sense of what we can do and what we're building from," he said. "For decades, these companies have been entertaining the world at the highest levels, creating an indelible connection with billions of people and a treasure trove of long-lasting content" that "no other content or technology company can rival."

The new service will feature new and existing programming from Disney's film and animation studios, its animation studio, "Star Wars," Marvel, Pixar and National Geographic, which it acquired along with the FX network as part of the Fox deal. »

Marvel heroes are getting a ton of original shows on Disney+

«Marvel is a $18.5 billion film franchise and now it'll have original shows on Disney+. A lot of original shows.

Here's the lineup, announced on stage by Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige:

"Wanda Vision" -- This series will star Vision and Scarlet Witch (even though both were killed by Thanos in "Infinity War"). Feige didn't explain what the show was about, but showed concept art of Vision and Scarlett dressed in black and white like the family from "Leave it to Beaver."
"Falcon & Winter Solider" -- This will showcase two heroes who started as enemies and became friends (again, both were killed by Thanos). Feige said the series will be a "deeper dive" where fans will learn about these heroes.
"Loki" -- This series will star Tom Hiddleston as Thor's brother, Loki. Feige didn't say much about it other than it'll have Loki's trademark mischief (Loki was also killed by Thanos).
"What If..." -- This was Marvel's most interesting show announcement: "What If..." will be an animated series that will wonder what life would've been like if things went a different way. For instance, Feige said that he first episode the show will ask what would have happened if Steve Rogers never became Captain America.»

“A post-Endgame MCU will be extremely different and extremely focused on Disney+ tying into our future,” Feige said during his presentation of various Marvel Disney+ originals in the works for the streaming service, including WandaVision, Falcon & Winter Soldier, and Marvel’s first animated series What If.


Marvel Originals Tied to the MCU As Never Before

Feige teased the development of several Marvel Disney+ originals, including Falcon & Winter Soldier, Loki, WandaVision, and others, promising that these shows “will be equally important to the films”:

“These shows will be on the same level of quality that you’ve come to expect from Marvel Studios and we’re taking advantage of the freedom offered by Disney+, exploring the MCU and our favorite characters over multiple episodes. These will be both new and continuing stories and one of the things we’re most excited about is that these will be major storylines set in the MCU with ramifications that will be felt both in the Disney+ shows we’re producing and our features on the big screen.”

Not only will the shows “change and evolve our existing characters,” the series will be “introducing new ones in ways that deepen the mythology and significantly impact the future of the MCU,” Feige said. An entire creative team at Marvel Studios is dedicated to growing these Disney+ original titles, which Feige revealed more details about in his presentation.


What If

Based on the Marvel comic books of the same, What If will be Marvel Studio’s first animated series. New and current Marvel cast members will be lending their voices to the series, which means even if you will no longer see them on the MCU, you can see them reprise their roles in animated form. Each episode will explore a different hypothetical story, focusing on a “pivotal moment from the MCU and turn it on its head, leading the audience into uncharted territory,” Feige said.

For example, the first episode of What If asks, “What if Peggy Carter became a super soldier, and what if Steve Rogers stayed a scrawny kid but joined the fight using an armored suit built by Howard Stark?” It’s an intriguing premise and one that bodes well for the rest of the high-concept series.
