Бесит, когда Локи не любят только потому, что он, видите ли, образом не совпал с прототипом из мифов. В чем проблема? Просто не смешивайте этих двух персонажей.

Pinter at the Pinter: star casting at its best and a magnificent celebration of pure theatre

«Tom Hiddleston in Betrayal crowns a triumphant season for Jamie Lloyd in the West End

This week I watched Tom Hiddleston cry, in person and up close. He is currently starring in Betrayal, Harold Pinter’s elegantly devastating love triangle, in the West End, alongside Zawe Ashton and Charlie Cox. And he is very, very good in it, conveying the pain of an affair and a broken marriage with heartbreaking economy and lethal wit.

The last time Hiddleston was on stage in London, it was in a three-week run of Hamlet, in a 160-seat theatre at Rada and tickets were allocated by public ballot. This time, over the 12-week run, there will be 300 £15 tickets for good seats in the stalls released weekly for under-30s, key workers and those receiving the jobseeker’s allowance, which means that many of Hiddleston’s fans have a shot at seeing him on stage, in a modern masterpiece, for the price of a round of drinks.

Jamie Lloyd’s production of the play is the culmination of Pinter at the Pinter, a season celebrating the playwright’s work in the West End to mark 10 years since his death. Betrayal is one of Pinter’s best-known works, but the six months before it have been dedicated to his one-act plays, sketches and poems.

Since September, it has staged 20 of them, in eight separate productions, for short runs, with eye-catching casts. I have seen Martin Freeman and Danny Dyer in The Dumb Waiter, Celia Imrie and John Simm in Celebration and Lee Evans in Trouble in the Works, to name but a few treats.

Tamsin Greig, Meera Syal, Keith Allen, David Suchet and Penelope Wilton have all appeared alongside newer talents such as Gemma Whelan, Jessica Barden, Paapa Essiedu and Hayley Squires. Patrick Marber, Lyndsey Turner and Lia Williams have shared directing duties with in the seemingly indefatigable Lloyd.

It has been a fine example of the best kind of star casting. Lloyd has always had a way with glitz – he put Kit Harington in Doctor Faustus, Martin Freeman in Richard III and James McAvoy in Hamlet – but this has been an unrivalled feat of thoughtful coordination, of matching names to works and, more often than not, creating magic.

There have been many delicious morsels: I will not quickly forget Hiddleston’s wounded look or angry melon-eating in Betrayal, nor Dyer’s culinary panic in The Dumb Waiter, nor Imrie’s quivering wig in Celebration. At the opening gala, I shook with laughter (and a bit of fear) as Simon Russell Beale wielded a wedge of Christmas cake like a weapon in an excerpt from The Hothouse. You got the impression the casts were enjoying themselves immensely, which is not always a plus, but in this case their enthusiasm for the subject matter was infectious.

It has been a triumph, uncovering lesser-known pieces for Pinter nuts, introducing his most important works to newcomers and offering the chance to see some of his original collaborators perform in roles the playwright handpicked for them. It’s been a kind of Pinter Proms, where you might book on the strength of a classic or a big name, but you end up discovering a rare gem, too.

Some of the works, it’s true, might be lesser known for a reason, but it is so rare to see experimentation of this kind in the West End, it didn’t matter. To stage six months of one-act plays, many unheard of and rarely staged, is a risk but to judge from the audiences on the nights I went, it has paid off. Pinter at the Pinter has been a magnificent celebration of pure theatre. I miss it already.»

Equity minimum is £455/wk for rehearsals, then £470/wk for performances. So thats ~£7500 for the run… but that’s bare minimum, so it’s what Eddie Arnold would get to play the waiter, at the very least.

In terms of the rest of the cast, being recognizable names, and for Tom as the drawing card, you can imagine it would be more than that. How much more, I don’t know. But that £4,000,000 profit the previous anon mentioned will be something his agent would bring up in negotiations. It obviously won’t be movie money, but even, say, £50,000 (a number I’m just pulling out of the air, I have no idea if it’s realistic) would be well covered by revenue, and also well above minimum.
