I don’t think I’ve seen anyone talking about this, so I wanted to make a post about it.
About a week ago, I did a general search for Sherlock on PBS’s website to see if it turned up anything. To my surprise, it did. PBS is showing an episode of Sherlock on February 5th at 9:36 PM.
Now, I don’t think PBS normally does encore showings of episodes a few weeks later. Please correct me if I’m wrong about this. As far as I know, TAB was the exception because it wasn’t broadcast on a Sunday and they wanted to show it for their Masterpiece Mystery segment.
Anyway, if you look up the PBS general TV schedule for the 5th, it says this:
There’s no episode title listed for this episode, unlike every show in these slots. If you click on the episode to see a brief synopsis, there isn’t one.
I also looked in the PBS magazine that we received in December. I think we got it about a week before TST aired but I’m not sure about that. Here’s the TV schedule for February 5th from the magazine:
The Sherlock episode isn’t listed in here. So, why would they replace some documentaries with a rerun of Sherlock? Unless that episode isn’t a rerun and they didn’t know about it when this magazine was published. Or maybe they did know and were hiding it. Who knows, but I find this pretty suspicious.
Edit: I should clarify that PBS nine is my local station. If other people chime in with their local PBS listings I’d be obliged.
